new nature inspired pieces in our gift shoppe

I have always been inspired by the garden. There is something about nature that is almost 'magical'.

I'm so excited about these new items in our gift shoppe to enchance your garden or your home.

What a great little bird bath. The little details of the flower pattern in the bowl and a hummingbird stealing a quick drink make this piece really special. Fill it with water and watch the birds come for a bath.
Fill this piece with bird seed and set on your patio to offer your feathered friends an afternoon treat. Or use it in your bedroom to hold your jewelry. So many uses.
We love this lantern the curved glass on the sides make it really unique. Sneak some candles inside and set it on your dining room table for an instant centerpiece.

And my personal favorite. I love these finials. I love ANY finial. The rustic, yet detailed look of these are just perfect. Get two and use them for book ends or tuck one into your garden. A delightful and unexpected surprise.

Stop in soon to see these unique pieces and many more great things on their way!!

morning, noon and night coffee cake

I adore this recipe. Years ago (well three years ago) when I was living in Philadelphia I discovered this recipe in Rachael Ray's magazine. Which, at the time, I found surprising since she doesn't really 'do' desserts. But, I made it anyway, and I'm glad I did.
Since this really isn't my recipe you can click here to find it. Turns out its actually not Rachael Rays recipe either.. its from one of her fans. At any rate, it is delicious and super, super easy. Here at Old Charm, I like to serve it with breakfast. The leftovers, if there are any, make a great late night snack when returning back 'home' from a busy day with the family, sightseeing or visiting the Elk.

I'm a huge fan of peanut butter and chocolate together, so I've also tried this recipe using peanut butter and chocolate chips. It's sinful.

wine & beer, music and art...sounds like fun

I love summer and fall festivals! Especially when they include wine and good times! In two weeks, in Ridgway, PA (a lovely 15 minute drive from St. Marys) The Ridgway Heritage Council is hosting what sounds to be a pretty fun event. Tasting in the Wilds will have five wineries, six breweries, music, food and art. How fun is that?

The event in on Saturday, July 25th and runs from 12-7pm (with various activities at varied times). For more information you can click here, or here. Hope to see you there!
