i made a decision

so this weekend i was in a really weird 'mood'. my 'spaces' were just starting to get to me. everything just seemed 'out of place'. even though it probably was fine the way it was, i just couldn't take it.

i really need to thank you for all the help you gave me on saturday. i knew at least one of you would reach out with some thoughtful advice! who knew sooo many of you would. and some of you were so passionate about your opinion! i love it!

so you're probably wondering what i decided. well, i think everyone will be happy with the decision (which was actually thought of by my brother. amazing! [but don't tell him i said that ... my sister-in-law and i are pretending it was her idea])

while the room is still a work in progress, i'm really happy with how far it has come. so this is what the dining room looked like before. these pictures were taken probably in the fall/summer of 2008 (and i apologize for the quality and 'darkness' of these pictures. i don't know what i was thinking.)

yikes! right?

and after

i would love to know what you think! be sure to leave a comment below. as you can see i decided to keep six photos exactly as they were on the left ... scratched the shelf idea ... and added three photos on the right. i love it. and see those white chairs? my mom got them with a table she bought at an antique shop for her sewing room. she didn't need the chairs...but they work perfect here .. don't ya think! P.S. I'm so glad to see you're now on Eddie Ross' blogroll. Congratulations! I also commented on his blog, and mentioned how terrific your jams are. Maybe some day he'll visit the B&B in person. Now wouldn't that be fantastic?

Michael - you are truly an artist. I adore your decision and the balance you've created with the 6 pictures on the left and the 3 on the right over those tall (what are those?) urn looking things. Just lovely.

If I may ask....where did you get the white urns on the console table? I think something like that would be perfect for the music room I am doing ......

Visiting from Better After and your dining room is definitely better after. What did you do with the china cabinet that is on the left in the before room? Hope you found a place for it.

I just found you on Better After, and I have to say I love your dining room makeover! Incidentally, we share the same tastes. I recently painted my dining room yellow, and I bought the exact same chandelier you have before I saw your makeover. However, it's going in my foyer. :-)

Great job!
