hello friends! so, i finally got a little break over new years. i had an empty bed and breakfast, the gift shoppe was closed. it was really, really nice.
so i took some much needed time for myself. in high school and my freshman year of college i did a lot of drawing and painting. i loved it. every minute of it. and i was good at it to boot.
so last week i was inspired by some beautiful signs i saw here. and i decided that i needed to pick up a paintbrush once again. so i found some wood, got some paint, dug up some inspiration and went crazy!
i painted five signs and my little kitchen table. now, mind you, it's just basically text and nothing super fancy, but it feels so good. it's calming. and i hope it will inspire me to do more. to do what i love.
i'll share some of the signs and my table with you next week. so, until then.

A true Renaissance man! I love your new profile pic.
Oooo I can't wait to see what you created. You're certainly on a creative little roll here Michael. And I second the profile pic, you're adorable! The whole blog looks great, especially the header.
Oh and I went to goodwill looking for candlesticks. They wanted $2 EACH...not for the set. And they were hideous too. I clearly need a new thrift store.
Holy cow....you've done it again Michael. Your signs look terrific...and if you tell me you took photos of YOURSELF painting the signs I may shriek and fall over. Seriously. I can't take a good photo to save my life with this new fangled DSLR...let alone of MY.SELF. PLEASE post when you have your signs in their new homes...can't wait to see.
Awesome! Isn't it just the most relaxing thing?? I love painting, too. Can't wait to see the signs!
I'm not good at painting at all, but I love to see others do it. I've tried a few signs and they all turn out horribly. Looking forward to see painting done right.
Michael thank you so much for dropping by and leaving me that sweet note!! Funny how many people pass through and NEVER do!!?? I appreciate it! I have art/design background and like you, I have gone such a long time without painting...such a shame as it is something I do love...hmmmm...suppose I should go back and read those words on that blog of mine again!
Also, lately all I think about is making a slipcover for my camera strap...love yours!
I just envy talented people who can paint or sing. Bet you can sing also.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today. I too, paint and I understand how wonderful it feels to have a brush in hand...actually it calms me to create in any form, but the brush seems to really calm my heart.
I became a follower...love your blog. We have many of the same interests.
wow...that's so awesome that after 10 years you were inspired by those signs (love the bee!) to pick up some brushes and paint again!love to hear those kinds of stories!
The script looks lovely.. I can't wait to see what these look like!
love the signs!
I have never painted anything - or hadn't until a couple months ago. Hadn't realized how fun painting is or how calming it can be!
Now I'm going to read your post on sewing as my sister in law just loaned me her sewing machine. It can't be that difficult, eh?! (or is it??????)
Michael, did you free hand all your sign or use stencils?
Oh my goodness!! I feel like I have found a kindred spirit! I love all of your decor and much to my surprise almost all of these things are on my list to make or projects already done :) I feel like your kitchen and everything is all of my ideas put to work!
