Well folks, the Gift Shoppe is basically complete and ready for Christmas! I know some of you are thinking - it’s WAY too early. But let me tell you, I’ve learned from experience that if I don’t have things on display now, people will start asking, “When are you putting out your Christmas stuff?” So now it’s finished and I don’t have to hear that question. Though, there are always a few people who ask, “Are you getting more Christmas stuff?” (Which feels about as good as someone punching me in the gut.) There are still a few items I need to incorporate, but as you can see, I don’t have much space left. This is it, everyone!
Setting up a store, especially a small store, is quite a bit different from decorating your home. It’s a lot harder to photograph, too. I’m sure things look all jumbled in the photos. Sorry about that. It’s all about squeezing as much as possible into one space. It doesn’t look like such a hot mess in real life. And, since people keep asking, I do not have an online shop and my actual shop is located in Saint Marys, PA, also known as The-Middle-of-Nowhere, PA. Don’t believe me? Ask Shannon. She knows. Oh, and speaking of Shannon, we have something really cool in the works. So awesome that it’s going to blow Put a Bird on It out of the water. Are you ready?
Hope you had a fabulous weekend. Are you starting to get ready for the upcoming holidays?

You had elves helping you, right? It looks magical!
its gorgeous and makes me ready for Christmas! Wish I could come shop. You did a beautiful job!
Other than pinning some Christmas ideas, I am not close to dealing with the approaching holidays. Love your shop – I think you need a bigger city location to show off your magnificent display! But I bet the rest of your town is so happy to have somewhere to shop for gifts.
Michael – this is incredible! I would drive all the way to PA to pick up these handmade beauties!
Michael your place is beautiful! I would love to run a B&B and to have a shop like that! You are sooo lucky! I hope to come visit one day, I live on Long Island!
Beautiful job on the shop!

I am in Pa.!!! Where is St mary’s?????
Your shop looks so pretty and inviting! I totally understand about having to get your holiday items ready so far in advance. I don’t mind though because it truly is my favorite time of year!
WOW! Your shop looks fantastic! It’s so festive and cheery and fun! I’d like to fly on over to PA to enjoy it! How much for a roundtrip ticket from CA? lol
Your shop really does look charming. I wish I could just hop over and visit you but I am just too far away. All the best for the Christmas season and no, it is not too early.
Greetings from the middle of nowhere in Germany

It looks beautiful! (Love the new header too!) Wish I could come shop there
Your shop is absolutely beautiful! I only wish it was here in Southern California!
Oooh, it’s gorgeous! And, lucky me, we’re visiting family in the Clearfield area for Thanksgiving so I get to come shop. And maybe stay if we can ditch the kids with the grandparents! Excited about “putting a cloche on it” too : )
So gorgeous, I can hardly stand it!
ha ha ha ha!!!!! Love the put a cloche on it party, you had me cracking up at the end!! I am from Oregon, so the Portlandia series is close to home (by the way, it’s all too true!)
Thanks for giving sneak peeks on Instagram- it brought me here to see the photos. I know you have been working so hard on this, and it shows. Holy moly! You did a beautiful job photographing it, and I pinned one of your shots- great display.
Thanks for giving us a peek.
It’s a lovely shop! Just the kind of place I would love to wander around in and find unique treasures. Wish I lived closer! (I live in Calgary, AB Canada)
This is a visual feast. Your customers are so lucky!
You, my dear, are too funny. Put a cloche on it! Hahaha.
You put out a great spread. I worked in retail merchandising for years — small spaces are the hardest. Especially when it comes to seasonal items. And I can only imagine the challenge of doing this in one’s own home. Wow. Color me impressed. Cookie for you!
Gorgeous!! Every.single.thing. You did an amazing job. I’m super excited for put a cloche on it! Lol

I am SO THANKFUL that I live no where near your little shop!
I would never leave and would buy two of everything…
LOVE it! Favies are the little snowpeople with green scarves and the tipsy top Christmas tree.
Just lovely… wonderful.
