My New Moen MotionSense Faucet // $100 Visa Giveaway

Two week’s ago I showed you my new kitchen floor (and colorful rug). Well, my kitchen also now has a new faucet! The fabulous people at Moen asked me to try out their new Arbor kitchen faucet with MotionSense. Test out a hands-free faucet? You bet!

To put it In a nutshell, Arbor with MotionSense is an amazing new system that allows you to operate the faucet without physical contact ñ literally eliminating steps and inconvenient messes that still happen with those faucets that you have to touch to turn on.

I decided to install the system myself. I don’t consider myself adept at plumbing so Iím not going to take you through the process. I will say the hardest part was removing the old faucet.

Installing the new one was super simple. I couldnít believe it. The only real challenge was that I turned the water off to my whole house and had no way to wash my hands until the job was complete.

Anyway, thatís not the point. I completed the process flawlessly, if I do say so myself. The best part? No leaks!

Now, more about the faucet. It is freaking amazing! There are a couple sensors in it. The first, which is on top, is called the wave sensor. You just wave your hand across the top and the faucet turns on. Wave your hand across it again, and it turns off.

The second sensor, the ready sensor, is located in the bottom front of the faucet. This one is my favorite.

If you put your hands, a drinking glass, or a pan in front of the faucet it automatically senses your presence. When you are finished and move away from the sensor, the faucet automatically turns off. Genius!

The Arbor with MotionSense is more convenient than standard faucets because it senses how the user wants the faucet to work and responds accordingly.

There is also a traditional handle that allows you to adjust the water like a standard faucet.

For the hands-free option, the system allows you to set the water to whatever temperature you want. Mine is set right in the middle, room temperature. There is also a pull-down sprayer. This can be adjusted to a stream or spray. Love that!

Needless to say, I am enthralled with the Arbor with MotionSenseI also feel pretty cool when guests come over and I can show them how awesome the faucet is. And of course, I love the fact that since Iím not touching the faucet or lever constantly, it stays significantly cleaner and “less germy.” A real bonus in my busy kitchen. 1. The Arbor with motionsense would simplify my life by keepingg myself and my family germ free as possible and would help with those meals that you prepare that leave ucky stuff on your hands that you couldn’t rinse off without getting it all over your faucet!!!

  2. We are in the process of staging and selling our house and this faucet looks chic and useful! A delightful combo!
Also lets talk about the germ aspect. LOVE the concept of no touch from the germ perspective!!

  3. What an amazing faucet! I am in the kitchen almost constantly– cooking, baking, canning, preserving food and what an amazing addition this would be. Because let’s face it, my hands are often covered in bread dough, cookie dough or whatever I am working with. Not having to constantly clean the faucet after I touch it would be great!

  4. I love the fact that I won’t have to worry about the germy hands that may have touched the faucet handles before I did…or the fact I have to wash off the handles everytime I prepare a meal. Thank you!

  5. You know when you’re cooking chicken and as soon as you’re done handling it you want to wash your hands, and you really don’t want to touch the faucet, but there really isn’t another alternative? Yeah this faucet would be perfect for that! I’d love to win!

  6. The Arbor with MotionSense would simplify my life because I wouldn’t have to worry about turning the faucet on when I have my hands full in the kitchen or making the sink messy if my hands have food on them from cooking. That means there will be less risk of bacteria spreading to my son who can now reach the faucet, or my husband.

  7. The faucet would definitely simplify our families life by keeping us germ free while we are cooking. With dirty hands, I hate touching the faucet to wash my hands while cooking. When I am done I disinfect it immediately!

  8. Not only would this help to keep my family germ-free, but after my 10-yr-old boy and several friends hit the sink for a drink after basketball, it would sure help to keep my kitchen cleaner.

  9. This faucet would be so awesome! No more trying to turn the water on with a fingernail when my hands are covered in paint or dirt or whatever. :)

  10. This would simplify my life because I can just tell that any day now my current faucet is going to start leaking all over the place. It’s old, and I need a new one. This one would be amazing! Thanks for the chance to win!

  11. I reallyreallyreally dislike our current faucet; the biggest issue is that it points outwards, so it always splashes! This one points down, which is *perfect*. As much as the motion sensors are awesome, I think I would like that even more.

  12. Great job on the faucet installation! Quick question – what did you do to cover up the ‘sink hole’ from the old spray nozzle?

  13. What a great idea! I’ve always liked the “auto-on” faucets that are in some public restrooms so having one in my own house would be nice, especially in the kitchen. Dough, and meat juices, and garlic…really gross stuff to get all over the faucet.

  14. Moen, with MotionSense, can make my life easier by not having faucet handles that get will become dirty and cleaned constantly.
    jslbrown_03 at yahoo dot com

  15. That is one beautiful faucet! I’d love the hands free on/off for those times when I don’t want to touch my faucet with dirty hands – like after cutting meat.

  16. The handsfree feature of this faucet would simplify my life by allowing my kids to turn on the faucet themselves to get a drink or wash their hands.
    nbalogh522 at gmail dot com

  17. Motion sense is the best invention- kids always forget or not turn off the faucet completely, this is the perfect solution to my family.

  18. The sensors would make my life easier since I’m a bit of a germaphobe and I’d like to wash my hands without touching the handle.

    mami2jcn at gmail dot com

  19. Love the motion sensor — perfect especially when cutting up meats so I don’t have to touch anything and can wash up quickly and safely! Minimizes the spread of all that bacteria!

  20. This faucet would be great when greasy, grubby fingers need a-scrubbin’. monicasmusings at gmail dot com

  21. My faucet drip, drip, drips from all the pushing and pulling on the lever. We live on a farm, so there are a lot of dirty hands along with the regular use my kitchen faucet gets. Love the germ free aspect!

  22. I think this should be in every kitchen! It makes so much sense to have the water come on while you are cooking and cleaning up!!! This is awesome, I had no idea that you could get a kitchen faucet that was motin sensitive! Pinky

  23. This would be great when I am filling a very large pot and need two hands to hold the pot filling up with water… thanks

    debbebennett at yahoo dot com

  24. I have a small single bowl sink, with no sprayer, and this would be awesome to have in my kitchen! It would make my life so much easier not having to use dirty hands to turn on the faucets, and having the sprayer would just be icing on the cake!

  25. What an awesome giveaway. This would totally simplify my life. You have no idea how many times I get puked on every day. Using it hands free would be nice because unusually end up having to clean the faucey multiple times a day, too. I have enough to clean in my life. Thanks for the chance.

  26. My husband and I were having a conversation the other day about our kitchen faucet and how it needs to be replaced. I LOVE how you don’t have to touch the handle…I am way OCD about getting germs on the kitchen faucet especially after handling raw chicken or any kind of meat. THANKS!

  27. Well, I don’t tweet and I don’t blog anymore so I’ll just enter this once. One of the things that looks really cool about that faucet is you don’t need that separate sprayer anymore! I’m looking at my faucet right now, wondering if I could put a lotion (or dish soap) dispenser where the spray faucet comes up. Wouldn’t that be neat? Less clutter on the sink and a beautiful new faucet that you won’t glop up with hands full of pastry, raw meat, craft glue…

  28. I am on the hunt for new faucet & sink in my kitchen and this would just be simply wondrous!!! Mom with 2 kids and a dog and a cat is always looking for ways to simplify life :) Thank you for the chance to win a gift card! That would come in handy in so many ways!

  29. I like all the features. The steam would be great for helping with cleaning the sink and the motion sensors would be a fab feature helping with having less germs in the kitchen area.

  30. It would make my life easy because of its ready sensor! I have two young sons who have a tendency to make a mess and I am often trying to hold them, prevent additional mess and turn of a tap.

  31. What a beautiful faucet. I love how high it sits so you can get large pots underneath it. Thanks for the chance to win!

  32. The Arbor with MotionSense would simplify my life by making it so much easier for the kids to help themselves wash up or get a drink of water by themselves

  33. The sensor is a great function that would save on a lot of faucet cleaning! And with flu season in full force, the less surfaces we touch the better!

  34. Hands-free takes me to the 21st century. Plus a new faucet is jewelry for the kitchen. Thank you for the contest.

  35. ohhh amazingly awesome. Would love to upgrade to this faucet. Even more importantly I’m totally crushing on your “Rise and Shine” print. What does the other one say? Where did you get them?

  36. That faucet is awesome! I would love to not worry about getting the sink dirty with grimy hands from working outside, husband changing my car’s oil… or even getting crud on the sink while cooking!

  37. The motionsense would simplify my life because when I host playdates, I won’t have kids running around with dirty hands saying I can’t turn on your faucet (which happens often)

  38. itd simplify so i don’t have to coordinate trying to turn the water on with a pinky finger when my hands are gross! scg00387 at yahoo dot com

  39. It’s beautiful! I’m sure the Arbor with MotionSense can simplify my life because that would save me lots of time in clean up in the kitchen. I often got both hands dirty and the sensor can help solve the problem of making the faucet handle dirty when I try to turn it on.

  40. I would love a hands free faucet. I do a lot of cooking. This faucet would make it so much easier to clean my hands without having to touch the faucet and spread germs.

    s2s2 at comcast dot net

  41. This would simplify my life because we wouldn’t waste water and I wouldn’t get the faucet dirty by touching it when my hands are gross!
Thank you for the giveaway :)

  42. I live in a house where the previous owners made righty friendly faucets. Thing is, we’re lefties. So this would make our lives easier, especially as our sleeves keep getting wet!!

  43. This would simplify my life by helping me in the kitchen while I’m cooking. At times, when I cook, my hands get messy. Using this faucet will prevent me from messing up the faucet with food on my hands.
    Thanks so much.

  44. This would make cooking and handling raw meat so much easier! I wouldn’t have to touch the faucet to turn on the water when my hands are all nasty!
Thanks for the chance to win!

    wildorchid985 @ gmail dot com

  45. I would love to have a faucet like this. I recently replaced my kitchen faucet and just didn’t take the time to look into the motion sensor type. But it would be extremely helpful when working with things like raw chicken.

Also, I am a fanatic about no spots on my faucet (or anything else for that matter!). Every time I reach up to push the lever on my faucet, water on my hands drips…. and I have to clean the drips…. AGAIN. I wipe those darn things a hundred times a day!

  46. What a great idea. I wish this was in my kitchen right now. There have been lots of times I had to wash the faucet after cleaning my hands because there was no way to avoid getting it dirty when turning it on.

  47. Hubby and I are getting older and our joints are hurting, so anything that has no pain is better. ya for turning water on and off without pain.

  48. Life would be so much easier if I didn’t have to stop to clean faucet handles after washing gross stuff off my hands!

    sksweeps (at) earthlink (dot) net

  49. I love this! The Arbor with MotionSense would help me by not having to touch the faucet handle when I’m preparing food in the kitchen and have messy hands.

  50. this faucet would help me by allowing me to cook without having to put down my ingredient to turn on the faucet and wash them and also allow me to keep my faucet and counter around it a lot cleaner.

  51. It would help simplify my life by not having to worry so much about germs on faucet handles and having to frequently clean them.

    Lisa Garner
    lisalmg25 at gmail dot com

  52. i love this faucet. it would be so great to not have to put all my ingredients down and turn on the faucet when i am preparing meals or cleaning up. it would make cooking a lot more fun and easy.

  53. The idea of not having to clean my faucet as much/often is dreamy! I’d love to have a faucet that responded to my needs rather than the one I have now that always comes on full force and splashes everywhere before slowing down to a more reasonable flow, not to mention the weak “spray” feature I have.

  54. This is on my wish list!! I think I use my hands more than a spoon when working on meals..and baking! I normally have a dishtowel laying by the sink, I grab that to operate the faucet. Not the most reliable method to prevent germs. I also like that you can stream or spray!

  55. I would LOVE this for when I need to wash my hands after touching raw meat….it would mean that I could disinfect the faucet a little bit less :)

    ktgonyea at

  56. It will help keep germs off of my sink. I can’t stand to touch my sink handles after cutting up raw chicken. I spray them with bleach cleanup after but I still worry about the germs. thanks for the giveaway!

  57. It would certainly simplify my baking/cooking life by allowing me to wash my hands without getting foodstuff on the faucets and then having to clean those before I could get back to my task. Gaye M; rustysrambles(at)gmail(dot)com

  58. The MotionSense would simplify my life because I do a lot of crafts and have messy hands frequently..I hate touching the sink handles with all that goop on my hands.

  59. The arbor Motionsense faucet would make life easier especially in the winter when I get dry hands because I wouldn’t have to wash my hands as often when making food. Thanks.

  60. I would love the Arbor with MotionSense because it would save me time and patience. I think the motion sense is amazing, especially in messy situations when there is dirt on my hands from gardening or when baking from scratch. Instead of getting dirt all over the faucet handle, I can wave my hand to get the water to turn on and off without having to clean my hands and wipe down the faucet handle from touching it with messy hands. When you touch raw food and have it thaw/soak in the sink… sometimes you do not realize what kind of germs you can get on a faucet handle. I think the motion sense will help eliminate germs because I feel that you can pick up germs after washing your hands simply by touching the faucet to turn it off.

  61. It would simplify my life in so many ways. It seems like every time I am doing something at the faucet I have a 18 month old and 3 year old who have to be picked up for some reason or another. I try and balance both of them while using the faucet and although I am pretty good at it, I still have not figured out a way to shut the faucet off with just my elbow. I am so in love with this as it would make things so much easier and I admit it is the coolest faucet I have ever seen!
    lauraemerson17 at yahoo dot com

  62. The hands free kitchen faucet would be great for when I am cooking using raw eggs or chicken and need to wash my hands but don’t want to touch the faucet handle. It would also be a great way to get the boys to wash their hands because they would think it was so cool!

  63. thischickwins said:
this would simplify things in that i wouldnt have to wash my hands as often, since they would be less germy
    thischickwins at gmail dot com

  64. Will this motion faucet work to water a cat? It looks like a person could set the knob for a tricle to come out, and then the cat could trip the sensor. The question is how long will it stay on, a few seconds or as long as the cat is in front of it?

  65. We are remodeling our home and this would be perfect with young children for filling cups and hand washing. Would also be great for keeping germs and bacteria from spreading. Hope I win!
