My New Moen MotionSense Faucet // $100 Visa Giveaway

Two week’s ago I showed you my new kitchen floor (and colorful rug). Well, my kitchen also now has a new faucet! The fabulous people at Moen asked me to try out their new Arbor kitchen faucet with MotionSense. Test out a hands-free faucet? You bet!



To put it In a nutshell, Arbor with MotionSense is an amazing new system that allows you to operate the faucet without physical contact ñ literally eliminating steps and inconvenient messes that still happen with those faucets that you have to touch to turn on.

I decided to install the system myself. I don’t consider myself adept at plumbing so Iím not going to take you through the process. I will say the hardest part was removing the old faucet. 


Installing the new one was super simple. I couldnít believe it. The only real challenge was that I turned the water off to my whole house and had no way to wash my hands until the job was complete.

Anyway, thatís not the point. I completed the process flawlessly, if I do say so myself. The best part? No leaks!



Now, more about the faucet. It is freaking amazing! There are a couple sensors in it. The first, which is on top, is called the wave sensor. You just wave your hand across the top and the faucet turns on. Wave your hand across it again, and it turns off.

The second sensor, the ready sensor, is located in the bottom front of the faucet. This one is my favorite. 



If you put your hands, a drinking glass, or a pan in front of the faucet,  it automatically senses your presence. When you are finished and move away from the sensor, the faucet automatically turns off. Genius! 



The Arbor with MotionSense is more convenient than standard faucets because it senses how the user wants the faucet to work and responds accordingly. 

There is also a traditional handle that allows you to adjust the water like a standard faucet.

For the hands-free option, the system allows you to set the water to whatever temperature you want. Mine is set right in the middle, room temperature. There is also a pull-down sprayer. This can be adjusted to a stream or spray. Love that!

Needless to say, I am enthralled with the Arbor with MotionSense. I also feel pretty cool when guests come over and I can show them how awesome the faucet is. And of course, I love the fact that since Iím not touching the faucet or lever constantly, it stays significantly cleaner and ”less germy.” A real bonus in my busy kitchen.     What an amazing faucet! I am in the kitchen almost constantly– cooking, baking, canning, preserving food and what an amazing addition this would be. Because let’s face it, my hands are often covered in bread dough, cookie dough or whatever I am working with. Not having to constantly clean the faucet after I touch it would be great!

    The Arbor with MotionSense would simplify my life because I wouldn’t have to worry about turning the faucet on when I have my hands full in the kitchen or making the sink messy if my hands have food on them from cooking. That means there will be less risk of bacteria spreading to my son who can now reach the faucet, or my husband.

    The faucet would definitely simplify our families life by keeping us germ free while we are cooking. With dirty hands, I hate touching the faucet to wash my hands while cooking. When I am done I disinfect it immediately!

    I reallyreallyreally dislike our current faucet; the biggest issue is that it points outwards, so it always splashes! This one points down, which is *perfect*. As much as the motion sensors are awesome, I think I would like that even more.

    What a great idea! I’ve always liked the “auto-on” faucets that are in some public restrooms so having one in my own house would be nice, especially in the kitchen. Dough, and meat juices, and garlic…really gross stuff to get all over the faucet.

    My faucet drip, drip, drips from all the pushing and pulling on the lever. We live on a farm, so there are a lot of dirty hands along with the regular use my kitchen faucet gets. Love the germ free aspect!

    I have a small single bowl sink, with no sprayer, and this would be awesome to have in my kitchen! It would make my life so much easier not having to use dirty hands to turn on the faucets, and having the sprayer would just be icing on the cake!

    Well, I don’t tweet and I don’t blog anymore so I’ll just enter this once. One of the things that looks really cool about that faucet is you don’t need that separate sprayer anymore! I’m looking at my faucet right now, wondering if I could put a lotion (or dish soap) dispenser where the spray faucet comes up. Wouldn’t that be neat? Less clutter on the sink and a beautiful new faucet that you won’t glop up with hands full of pastry, raw meat, craft glue…

    I would love to have a faucet like this. I recently replaced my kitchen faucet and just didn’t take the time to look into the motion sensor type. But it would be extremely helpful when working with things like raw chicken.

    Also, I am a fanatic about no spots on my faucet (or anything else for that matter!). Every time I reach up to push the lever on my faucet, water on my hands drips…. and I have to clean the drips…. AGAIN. I wipe those darn things a hundred times a day!

    The idea of not having to clean my faucet as much/often is dreamy! I’d love to have a faucet that responded to my needs rather than the one I have now that always comes on full force and splashes everywhere before slowing down to a more reasonable flow, not to mention the weak “spray” feature I have.

    This is on my wish list!! I think I use my hands more than a spoon when working on meals..and baking! I normally have a dishtowel laying by the sink, I grab that to operate the faucet. Not the most reliable method to prevent germs. I also like that you can stream or spray!

    I would love the Arbor with MotionSense because it would save me time and patience. I think the motion sense is amazing, especially in messy situations when there is dirt on my hands from gardening or when baking from scratch. Instead of getting dirt all over the faucet handle, I can wave my hand to get the water to turn on and off without having to clean my hands and wipe down the faucet handle from touching it with messy hands. When you touch raw food and have it thaw/soak in the sink… sometimes you do not realize what kind of germs you can get on a faucet handle. I think the motion sense will help eliminate germs because I feel that you can pick up germs after washing your hands simply by touching the faucet to turn it off.

    It would simplify my life in so many ways. It seems like every time I am doing something at the faucet I have a 18 month old and 3 year old who have to be picked up for some reason or another. I try and balance both of them while using the faucet and although I am pretty good at it, I still have not figured out a way to shut the faucet off with just my elbow. I am so in love with this as it would make things so much easier and I admit it is the coolest faucet I have ever seen!

    The hands free kitchen faucet would be great for when I am cooking using raw eggs or chicken and need to wash my hands but don’t want to touch the faucet handle. It would also be a great way to get the boys to wash their hands because they would think it was so cool!

    Will this motion faucet work to water a cat? It looks like a person could set the knob for a tricle to come out, and then the cat could trip the sensor. The question is how long will it stay on, a few seconds or as long as the cat is in front of it?
