A Colorful Christmas Tree | Inspired by Charm #IBCholiday #12days72ideas #myBGT

**The giveaway below has ended. Congratulations to the winner Lori H.!!

Okay, I’m warning you. This post has way too many pictures of my Christmas tree. Prepare yourself. Or, as Britney Spears would say, “Don’t hold it against me.”

Anyway, I was finally able to decorate tree #2 yesterday. For those of you who were following IBC last year, it’s going to look pretty familiar.

Please welcome back my gradient-rainbow-inspired Christmas tree!

Hands down, this is my favorite holiday decoration. I did, however, make a few changes to this year’s version. First, and probably most noticeable, I have a new tree. My friends at Treetopia sent me this gorgeous Slim Spruce Christmas Tree. Not that I’ve owned a lot of Christmas trees, but this is by far the nicest artificial tree I’ve ever seen.

It’s so full, and I love how the branches are set up and stick out of the tree. It makes decorating much easier.

I also added a star to the top of the tree. As you might have guessed, it’s vintage. I found it on eBay.

I think it’s kind of perfect.

In addition to the new tree and topper, I also have a brand new tree skirt. Last year I used a table cloth, but wasn’t completely satisfied with the look. This year I found this incredible tree skirt from RedEnvelope. It’s their Otomi Christmas Tree Skirt. (By the way, they also offer matching stockings.)

The detail in it is stunning. I also love how it ties in with the bottom colors of the tree. What luck, right?

All of the balls on the tree are glass.

Some are thrifted and some are new.

Some are shiny and some are matte.

Some are glittery and some are plain.

I even have a few glass bird ornaments tucked in here and there.

The ribbon around the tree is burlap.

Okay, now for a few more pictures. Ready, set, go!

She’s a beauty, right?

Oh, in case you’re wondering, my vintage-inspired tree has been relocated to the dining room. (You can learn how to make those candlesticks on the table here.)

Somewhere Over the Rainbow // Treetopia Hump Day Giveaway | Inspired by Charm #IBCholiday #12days72ideas

Initially I tried this tree in there, but it was just a bit too big for the space. This is a much better fit.

And now for some awesome news, I’m so excited to announce that the fabulous folks at Treetopia are giving away a tree to one lucky IBC reader! They are offering the winner his or her choice of the Slim Spruce Christmas Tree (7′) or the All That Glitters Christmas Tree (7.5′). (These are the trees that I have in my house.) The tree will come pre-lit with clear lights for easy decorating.

  • Kim Gibson at

Oh, wow! So so so pretty! Okay, I have a question. It’s a little off topic. Where did you get those bamboo blinds? And what is the color you selected? I’m in the process of selecting bamboo blinds for my house, and I love yours!

    • Michael Wurm, Jr. at

Kim – check back soon, I’ll be doing a full post on the blinds ASAP. However I got them at selectblinds.com and ADORE them.

      xo Michael

  • Jennifer at

    Michael,
What a gorgeous tree. I look forward to every post and this one is by far my favorite. Everyone in my office is having me forward the post.
    Thanks!

  • Emily at

I love both your trees! I should mention I am in mourning now, because my vintage inspired white Christmas tree no longer has working lights. :( Your trees have inspired me to go back out there and fall in love all over again! Fantastic idea doing a gradient in color with the bulbs!!

  • tammigirl at

Your tree is fantastic! I wish I had thought of this myself. As a matter of fact, after last year I promised myself I would do this, but then I got complacent and did the same old thing. I think I need another tree!

  • Laura at

Such a lovely Christmas Tree! I love the tips you shared for decorating because whenever I wrap ribbon around the Christmas Tree it ends up looking goofy. I’ll have to use more this time around and not pull it as tight around. Thank you!

    Laura

  • Anne at

The Tree is beautiful, my tree is an old one with old decorations so we don’t have any color format

  • Kris at

Beautiful!!!!! You decorate the best Christmas trees, Michael!!! I wish I had the room to have more than one! Thanks for sharing more of your holiday goodness!!!

  • Anita at

There can’t be TOO many pictures of this – it’s fabulous! I really like the extra gold balls sticking out at the top, and the burlap ribbon as a backdrop/counterpoint to all the shiny color. I didn’t think you could improve on last year’s tree design (with the buffalo-checked tablecloth tree skirt), but you’ve done it!

Love the second tree too, and how the paint-dipped brass candlesticks on the gold polka-dot table runner add to the scrumptious feel. Both trees, and the extra accents, are enthralling designs for a lot of inspiration.

  • Donna / Funky Junk Interiors at

Oh M!!!! I’m so glad this tree made a comeback… I can’t get over how gorgeous it turns out. And I LOVE your new taller tree too! This truly is such a show stopper and will be hard to top! Good luck with that! ;)

  • Madeline at

Great give away! I love all the color in your home.

Your gradient and vintage trees are both so beautiful, I can’t decide which one I like better. Any chance you can share where you got the ornament hangers? They’re so much prettier than the cheesy wire ones I use.

  • The Refeathered Roost at

I love your colorful Christmas tree! I can see this on a smaller version in my daughters’ rooms…would be so nice with their colorful rooms. Happy to have found your blog…love it!

    Michael,
Your tree is magnificent! It truly represents all the colors of Christmas and stands out from a beautiful neutral background. Fantastic job of decorating. The burlap ribbon on the tree complements the country chic of your décor….Love it!

  • Shan@FamilyBringsJoy at

Michael…seriously you are a creative genius! I adore your style, your photography, and this TREE! This is the first time I’ve actually visited your blog. I’ve been an avid Instagram follower for a long time now. However, I’m in sort of a slump on what to do for my Christmas decor this year. Usually I have a plan way ahead. For some reason I just can’t come up with something. It’s a little stressful because I’m hosting a Christmas party at my house this year. Yikes! So I hopped online to find some inspiration. I remember when you posted this tree on Instagram and showing it to my husband. It is stunning! I absolutely love the tips at the end! Thank you for sharing your talent with us! xo

  • Kathy at

OMG!!! I LOVE THIS!!!! Your tree is the best gradient tree I have seen!!! AMAZING!!! :)

  • Lora W. at

I don’t really have a theme for my tree. It’s a mix of childhood ornaments, handmade ornaments and collectible Hallmark ornaments that I give the kids each year. Maybe my theme is “See How Many Ornaments Can Fit on the Tree.”

  • JoAnn at

Your Christmas trees are beautiful! I have a themed tree for the first time this year. It is a work in progress. It is in addition to what I lovingly call our hodge podge family tree that our girls decorate.

  • JoeyfromSC at

your decorating amazes me! lol..The gradient tree is simply stunning! I dunno if I could ever duplicate it ha..but I may try next year!!

Thanks for the chance to win(much needed) a gorgeous tree!
