about me

hi! i’m michael.  i assume you are here because you want to know more about me? so, here goes...

currently i own this bed and breakfast in st. marys, pa. it's my hometown. it's where i was born, raised and where i've spent most of my life. it's a beautiful town in the middle of nowhere. if you ever want to visit, you'll always have a place to stay.

i've always dreamed of owning a bed and breakfast. but i assumed that adventure would happen later in life. but when life gives you lemons...

before purchasing my dream in 2008, i lived and worked in philadelphia. i worked at this fancy place. when i resigned at the end of 2007, i was the department head of the lounge. and while i learned so much, loved lots about what i did and the people i worked with, something just wasn't right. i wasn't happy.

i do miss philadelphia. i miss the people most - my friends. i created and had a beautiful life there. i will treasure the memories of that life forever, but i was ready and needed to move on to my next chapter.

before moving to philadelphia, i studied hospitality management at penn state (we are...!!). during my senior year i wanted nothing more than to graduate. i was ready. now, i wish i could go back. i graduated in may 2005 with high distinction. which, for me, is an amazing accomplishment. ah-freakin-mazing. i got my first set of straight a's in college. grade school and high school never came that 'easy' for me.

during college, in the summer of 2004, i spent five weeks studing abroad at this school in montreux, switzerland. it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. in italy i visited rome, florence, venice, munich, pisa, and siena. in switzerland i visited montreux, lausanne, interlaken (where i went paragliding). in germany i visisted munich and garmisch-partenkirchen. i visited paris france. i also deleted over 500 pictures of italty when traveling from switzerland to germany. accidentally of course. i was devestated. i decided to go back to italy, by myself, and re-took almost every picture within 48 hours. i'm so glad i did.

i have two older brothers. two amazing nephews. one beautiful niece. and an extremely supportive and wonderful family. i love them with all my heart.

circa 1990 (i'm the one in middle - in the black shirt)

these are my cats ... sebastian and jax. i adore them. we've been through a lot together. i'm pretty sure they love me too.

i have many goals and dreams. i'm not sure what's next, but i do know that within 5 years (or so) i'd like to sell my dream and move on to my next adventure ... whatever that may be. i've always loved design and dream about working in that field at some point in my life. who knows. (maybe you can hook me up? please.) but at long as i keep blogging, i'll be sure to take you with me.
